I am directed by Mr. Secretary Long to acknow- ledge the receipt of your letter No.083/5035 (M.0.1.) of the 22nd March, the substance of which has been communicated by telegraph to the Governor of Hong Kong, regarding compulséry military service for cal defence at Hong Kong, and to request you to lay before the Army Bouncil the accompanying copy of a telegram from Sir H May on the subject.
